Parenting is amazing but tough, it’s the most challenging work every single day. Every stage brings us to a more difficult situations and that’s where parenting groups come in. Smart Parenting makes it a daily mission to become a mom’s guilt-free guide to her greatest (and wildest) adventure in parenting.
Smart Parenting has been a big help ever since I became a mom. I’ve learned a lot from their website, Facebook page and events. Luckily, I was invited as a media guest in it’s most-awaited event of the year, the “Smart Parenting Convention” that was held at SM Megamall, last June 29, 2019. It was my first time to attend the Smart Parenting Convention but as expected, it amazed me!
There were more than 70 concessionaires offering great discounts plus games and raffle prizes. I didn’t win the raffle but I got to take home free items from different booths.
The best part was the informative talks about every stages of parenting. It was divided into three blocks and you have the option to choose which block you want to attend to.
The Pregnancy and Baby Block includes topic about Childbirth Options and How To Prepare for Delivery Day; Postpartum Care; Baby Milestones and Redflags to Watch Out For and Baby sleep basics.
The Toddler Block was all about parenting toddlers. FAQ’s were answered by expert guest speakers.
We were able to catch the Family Block. The first topic was about The Need For Marriage Makeover After Kids presented by Joy Mendoza with his husband Edric Mendoza. They shared marriage makeover tips such as face-to-face, side-to-side and belly-to-belly.
The second talk was about Digital Parenting by Dr. Michelle Alignay. I learned that kids 2 years old and below shouldn’t be exposed to gadgets. To be honest, I am guilty of letting my 1 year old child use my phone so she can watch educational videos from youtube. I let her use it when she’s bored, it pacifies her. Through this talk, I learned that we should let our kids be bored for them to learn self-control.
Lastly, a talk about a Home First Aid Kit by Patricia Cuatay Fruto. Being a nurse, I am well aware about this but it was a good thing that this was included in the talk to increase awareness on the importance of having a first aid kit at home. There is a risk of getting small accidents at home and having a well-stocked first aid kit can help you respond effectively to common injuries and emergencies at home.
Raffle prizes were given at the end of the talk, too bad I wasn’t able to register my name so I was fully aware that my name weren’t on the list of winners but I still get to take home loot bags as a token for being a Media Guest for this event.
Overall, it was a great event! We enjoyed it and we look forward to attending the next Smart Parenting Convention.
